A Love for Books Day 10: Author Feature (Part 1): Natalie Richards

Hi everyone! Today is officially day 10 for A Love for Books blog event and it's also Valentine's day! So.. happy Valentine's day everyone! I hope your day is full of candy, love, and swoony book boys! I plan to spend the day, after school of course, reading my favorite scenes from books with my favorite couples in them while pigging out on cupcakes and drinking Dr Pepper! I'm really looking forward to it actually! Anyway, today I have the all out wonderful Natalie Richards for an interview! It's always such an pleasure to have her on the blog!

1. When you hear "Valentine's Day", what do you immediately think of?

I think of guys leaving grocery stores with last minute flowers and cards. It's always so funny...drive through any grocery store parking lot on Valentine's Day and almost every guy walking out of the door looking rushed and carrying a greeting card and a bunch of kind of pitiful looking flowers covered in plastic. It's cute.

2. Are there any romance books you like to read during or around this time, since romance is in the air?

Okay, I might get some hate for this, I really might...but I don't think Valentine's Day is particularly romantic. Restaurants are busy, it's miserably cold where I live, and lots of single people feel kind of rotten and lonely which just stinks. :( But, that doesn't mean I don't like a good romance, because I totally do!! So if anyone is looking for one, I recommend anything by Katie McGarry or Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. The Distance Between Us was another cute romance I read this year!

3. Do you prefer flowers or chocolates for V-day? Personally, I prefer chocolate cause who doesn't like chocolate? ;)

Holy crap, chocolate. Always. Chocolate. Or any carbs, really -- I wouldn't be opposed to a fine selection of fresh baked breads, either. Or you can just make it easy on yourself and get me gift cards--Sephora or Barnes & Noble will do nicely. LOL!

4. Are you a romantic date night or a sappy chick flick kind of girl?

I confess that despite being a not-particularly-romantic girl, I do like chick flicks. Not all of them mind you. Some of them are just...painful. But I loved Easy A and Love, Actually. Oooh, and Crazy, Stupid, Love was one of the sweetest movies ever--if you haven't seen that one, I highly recommend it -- PERFECT for Valentine's Day.

5. Besides your own boy, which book boy do you find swoony?

I'm going to go with Griff from Romily Bernard's Find Me. Holy Lord that boy is smoking.

6. What's your favorite thing about Valentine's Day?

I really do love those little cards and candies the kids give out. It's just sweet...here, have some candy and a silly card, just because. I really don't know why we all grow out of that in the fourth grade. Maybe that should be a new Valentine's Day trend, to stop making it all about romance and schmoop and more about taking a second to send a little note to all the people we like. That and the conversation hearts. Maybe we should all have to talk using only conversation hearts for the whole day. HAHA!

7. Is there any tradition or thing you like to do for or around Valentine's Day, that doesn't involve going out with something?

I often make Valentine's sugar cookies--does that count? I think I just like to play with frosting and sprinkles in girly colors!! :-)

8. Since I drooled at the list of holiday treats you gave me for WITS event, are there any V-day treats you like? <3 font="">

I'm going to give you my top four chocolate items ever, because I do believe Valentine's Day should equal chocolate!

4. Godiva's chocolate covered strawberries (yes they're like eleventy-billion dollars apiece. But holy crap, they're amazing.)

3. COSI's Mayan Mocha -- which is sadly a seasonal offering and I don't know when/if it will ever be back -- but it's this perfect blend of sweet chocolate and spicy cinnamon. Rich and irresistible.

2. Ghiradelli's (how on earth do you spell that?) Milk Chocolate caramel squares. I'm usually a dark chocolate fan, but there's something about these. Yum.

1. I'm going to give a little shout out to a teeny tiny fudge shop in a state far, far away. Beaufort, North Carolina is the most beautiful city in the world. Yes, I'm biased, but I'm in love with that town. Anyhoo, there's a little fudge shop there called the Fudge Factory with a chocolate pecan fudge that has just the tiniest touch of texture. Most fudge just sort of melts in your mouth, smooth and gooey like frosting that's set out too long. Their fudge has this delectable bit of grit to it...just the tiniest bit of texture and it's seriously the best. thing. ever.

9. Any plans for this V-day? (not to get too personal! Promise I'm not a creepy stalker!)

My husband and I will probably do dinner or something, but never ever on Valentine's Day. Too dang busy. ;-) But I can almost guarantee I'll spend the night before gluing glittery hearts to the side of foil covered boxes because those school parties are work, yo!

10. If your dream book boy or actor asked you to their Valentine, would you say yes? And who would that guy be?

So, I'm again going to draw the super unpopular card and say probably not....LOL! But that's mostly because all of my book boyfriends (from Griff to Isaiah all the way back to Mr. Darcy himself) belong with other people. So, sure that'd be awesome to go out with the super swoony hot boy, but then I'd feel like a horrid person who was turning this awesome guy into a total tool. I know...I'm so weird!

Thanks again!! You're amazing! <3 font="">
