A Love for Books Day 9: Author Feature: Susan Dennard

Hi everyone! Today is officially the 9th day of my A Love for Books event! I hope everyone has loved all the features we've had so far! Many more to come, I assure you! Today we have the lovely Susan Dennard, author of the Something Strange & Deadly series. I love love love her books and her so when I was actually able to get her to agree to take part I was over the moon! It means so much that she could be here today! She was willing to do an interview with me so yay! Let's check it out!

1. When you hear "Valentine's Day", what do you immediately think of?
When I hear "Valentine's Day" I usually think, "Thank goodness my husband and I don't celebrate." ;) I always forget it. Every darn year.

2. What's your most memorable V-day? Doesn't necessarily have to be a date, though it could be!

I honestly don't think I have one. I can't remember a single Valentine's Day...Sad, I know.

3. Do you prefer chocolates or flowers? I personally prefer chocolate because chocolates are delicious!

Chocolates! I'm not much of a cut flowers person. Now if it's a live, potted flower, then I'll take the flower over the chocolates. (I know, I'm just getting confusing now.)

4. What do you think it takes to make a good romance in a book?

I think good romance is all about the tension. What stands in the way of the hero and heroine's love? What keeps them apart yet pulls them together? Ungh, I love me some good romance.

5. Daniel is all kinds of swoony, tough, and adorable (even though after A Darkness Strange & Lovely I'm mad at him!), was Daniel modeled after anyone you know in your life?

Ha! I'm sorry you're mad at Daniel. He tries--he really does. He just doesn't always understand Eleanor. And no, he's not really modeled on any particular person. Though I suppose I made him an inventor because my husband is an inventor, and I find that incredibly sexy. ;)

6. Besides your own, which book boys do you find swoony?

LOTS! But my latest love-interest obsession is Jack from the BLOOD RED ROAD series. Oh WOW, is he smokin'.

7. What's your favorite thing about being an writer?

Meeting readers. It's so humbling and so incredible whenever I get to connect with someone who took the time to read my book. Like, I honestly cannot express to you how deeply it moves me every dang time!

8. What are you most proud of about the Something Strange & Deadly series?

Oh gosh, that's a really tough question! I think...well...I think I'm most proud of how the series ultimately turned out as a whole. It's so hard to get what you imagine and feel on the page, but I honestly think I got my vision down right. I feel like I did Eleanor's story justice. Now whether or not readers like the story is a different question, but I know, deep down, that I told her tale as it needed to be told. And I'm proud of that. :)
